Congressman Andy Harris has announced the opening of the nomination process for students aspiring to join the U.S. Service Academies’ Class of 2030. The nominations are open to qualified applicants from Maryland’s First Congressional District, and cover the U.S. Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, and Merchant Marine Academy.

Each year, Congressman Harris nominates students to these academies. Although a nomination is not required for the Coast Guard Academy, he may recommend suitable candidates.

Applicants will be assessed based on their academic performance, SAT/ACT scores, physical aptitude, extracurricular activities, and a panel interview. The deadline for application submission is October 31, 2025. Interviews will occur in the fall with official nominations sent to the Service Academies by December 31, 2025.

“These academies develop leaders of character committed to serving our nation. I’m proud to nominate outstanding students from Maryland’s First District to these prestigious institutions,” Congressman Andy Harris stated.

Students interested in applying can complete their nomination applications online.
