U.S. Congressman Andy Harris, who represents Maryland’s 1st district, shared updates from the White Marlin Open in Ocean City through several social media posts this week.

On August 5, Harris posted about his visit with local officials and supporters: “Great day at the White Marlin Open with Ocean City Mayor, Rick Meehan! We talked about how the One Big Beautiful Bill is cutting off the Green New Scam subsidies that fund reckless offshore wind. The crowd was fired up for President Trump and what we are doing.” He also emphasized community opposition to certain renewable energy initiatives later that day, stating: “Great to be at the White Marlin Open with the great people of Ocean City, Maryland reaffirming our support to end these reckless offshore wind projects once and for all and to protect our shores.”

The following day, Harris teased an upcoming announcement involving a federal official: “Big announcement coming! Welcome to Maryland’s First District @SecRollins!”

Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st district in Congress since 2011 after defeating Frank Kratovil. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served on the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge, Harris earned his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1977.
