Rep. Andy Harris, MD, who has represented Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2011, shared a series of posts on September 4, 2025, covering topics from educational opportunities to federal policy under recent administrations.

In his first post of the day, Harris promoted an event for prospective military academy students: “Join us for Virtual Academy Night, an interactive session on the U.S. Service Academy application process.

Hear from academy reps & military officials
Learn about life at a Service Academy
Discover how to serve our nation with honor

High school students & https://t.co/KxYGmGl9mb” (September 4, 2025).

Later that afternoon, Harris criticized the Biden administration’s allocation of resources: “The Biden admin poured billions into DEI mandates while ignoring border security and public safety. President Trump ended the waste and abuse—redirecting taxpayer dollars to defend our borders and keep America safe.” (September 4, 2025).

That evening, he highlighted what he described as improvements in energy policy during Donald Trump’s presidency: “Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, American energy is back on top. By cutting red tape & unleashing drilling, his pro-energy agenda is lowering costs, boosting national security, and creating good-paying American jobs.” (September 4, 2025).

Harris has been active in Congress since defeating Frank Kratovil in 2011 and previously served over a decade in Maryland state government. He was born in New York City in 1957 and resides in Cambridge. Harris earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1977.
