Andy Harris posts tributes to veterans and law enforcement actions on social media

Rep. Andy Harris, who represents Maryland’s 1st congressional district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on his social media account between November 10 and November 11, 2025, commemorating military service and public safety actions.

On November 10, Harris marked the anniversary of the Marine Corps with a tribute post: “For 250 years, the United States Marine Corps has defended our country with unwavering strength and honor. Today, we pay tribute to every Marine whose devotion and sacrifice have protected the freedoms we cherish.”

Later that day, he expressed gratitude towards Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for removing an individual from Maryland: “Thanks to ICE, a convicted child predator and illegal alien from El Salvador is off Maryland’s streets. Thank you, President Trump, and ICE for making our communities safer.”

On November 11—Veterans Day—Harris posted another message recognizing veterans: “Today we honor the brave men and women who chose to serve our nation with conviction, integrity, and love of country. I’m especially thankful for the Veterans of Maryland’s First Congressional District, whose service reminds us that the freedoms we enjoy every day exist because”

Harris has served as a member of Congress since 2011 after replacing Frank Kratovil. He previously held office in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge, Harris earned his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1977.
