Rep. Andy Harris, who represents Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of posts on September 25, 2025, addressing local concerns about offshore wind impacts and criticizing Democratic positions on federal funding and healthcare for undocumented immigrants.
In his first post of the day, Harris wrote: “Great meeting with our local watermen, elected officials, and stakeholders in West Ocean City to discuss the serious adverse impacts of offshore wind on our environment, fisheries, and coastal economy. I’ll continue standing with our local communities to protect our coastline,” (September 25, 2025).
Later that afternoon, he commented on ongoing federal budget negotiations: “The Democrats are holding funding hostage unless taxpayer dollars are used to provide health care to those here illegally.” (September 25, 2025).
He followed up that evening with another statement regarding party priorities: “That’s how out of touch the Democrats are with hard-working American taxpayers.” (September 25, 2025).
Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st congressional district since replacing Frank Kratovil in 2011. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in both the Maryland House of Representatives and the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge at age 66, Harris is also an alumnus of Johns Hopkins University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977.
