Rep. Andy Harris, MD, who represents Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on his official Twitter account this week covering local infrastructure needs and public recognitions.

On May 8, Harris reported on a recent visit to the Water Witch Fire Company, writing: “This week, I visited the Water Witch Fire Company and discussed the critical need to replace a 24-year-old fire engine that has become costly to maintain. I secured funding for this fire engine replacement project in the FY2027 Agriculture Appropriations bill that advanced out https://t.co/pgQ2au4Jud”.

Later that same day, Harris marked Military Spouse Appreciation Day by acknowledging military families in Maryland. He stated: “On Military Spouse Appreciation Day, we recognize the spouses who support our servicemembers through every deployment, move, and challenge that comes with military life. Maryland is proud to be home to numerous military families, and today we thank them for all they do. https://t.co/4NMmKUVF3V”.

On May 10, he extended Mother’s Day wishes via social media with a brief message: “Happy Mother’s Day! https://t.co/C7PEph7yVI”.

Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st District since 2011 after succeeding Frank Kratovil and previously served in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and now residing in Cambridge at age 66, Harris holds a BS degree from Johns Hopkins University earned in 1977.
