Rep. Andy Harris, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 1st district since 2011, posted a series of tweets on October 30 and 31, 2025, addressing both religious expression in government and projected healthcare premiums.
On October 30, Harris commented on the role of faith in American governance, stating, “For decades, Washington has treated faith as something to be kept private…to be tolerated but never proclaimed. But America’s founders knew better. They opened every session of Congress with prayer because they knew the affairs of men could not prosper without the wisdom of”.
The following day, Harris addressed health insurance costs under the Affordable Care Act Marketplace for 2026: “The average Marketplace premium after tax credits is projected to be $50 per month for the lowest cost plan in 2026 for eligible enrollees. While this represents a $13 increase from 2025, it remains $20 less expensive than the monthly premium after tax credits in 2020. Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st District since replacing Frank Kratovil in 2011 and previously served in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge, Harris earned his BS from Johns Hopkins University in 1977.
