Rep. Andy Harris, MD, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 1st district, recently shared his views on various issues through a series of tweets. The congressman addressed topics ranging from nutrition and health to fiscal responsibility within his state.

On May 14, 2025, Rep. Harris expressed his strong support for Secretary Kennedy’s stance on nutrition by stating “I’m 1000% behind you on nutrition. We have to get to the bottom of why America is getting sicker — not healthier.” This tweet underscores Harris’s commitment to addressing public health concerns.

Later that day, he commented on Maryland’s financial situation following Moody’s downgrade of the state’s credit rating. He clarified “Nope. Moody’s downgrade of Maryland’s credit rating has nothing to do with President Trump.” He attributed the downgrade to what he perceives as reckless spending and aggressive taxation by Democrats in Annapolis, criticizing them for misdirection and avoiding accountability.

On May 15, 2025, Rep. Harris called for fiscal discipline with a concise message urging government efficiency: “Cut the waste. Cut the fraud. Cut the abuse.”

Andy Harris has served in Congress since 2011 after replacing Frank Kratovil and previously served in both chambers of Maryland’s legislature from 1999 until his election to Congress.
