In recent communications via social media, Representative Andy Harris from Maryland’s 1st district shared his perspectives on various national matters. Harris has been a member of the U.S. Congress since 2011, previously serving in the Maryland Senate.

On April 14, 2025, Rep. Harris commented on the case involving Rachel Morin, linking her death to federal border policies, stating, “Rachel Morin would be here today had it not been for the dangerous wide-open border policies of the Biden Administration. This verdict is a victory for justice and it is my hope it will help bring some peace to Rachel’s family as they cherish her memory and life.”

The following day, Harris addressed the financial capabilities of educational institutions, specifically mentioning Harvard University. On April 15, 2025, he suggested that the university should use its substantial endowment for its financial needs instead of relying on taxpayers, writing, “Harvard has a $53 billion endowment. They should use that instead of expecting the hard-working American taxpayer to pick up the tab.”

Later that day, Rep. Harris expressed his views on legislative requirements, noting that a change of leadership rather than new laws was necessary. On April 15, 2025, he stated, “No new laws were needed. We only needed a new President.”

Andy Harris, 66, was born in New York City in 1957 and has an educational background from Johns Hopkins University, where he graduated in 1977.
