Rep. Andy Harris, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 1st district, addressed issues of political violence, military service recognition, and prisoner of war remembrance in a series of posts on his official social media account.

On September 18, 2025, Harris wrote: “Political violence has no place in America. Designating ANTIFA as a terrorist organization and investigating those who finance them is how we restore safety and accountability.”

Later that day, he acknowledged the United States Air Force’s anniversary with a message to service members: “Happy Birthday @usairforce! To every Airman defending America at home and abroad—thank you.”

On September 19, 2025, Harris posted about National POW/MIA Recognition Day: “Today, we pause to remember the brave Americans who were taken prisoner or remain missing in action. You are not forgotten. We will never stop working to bring every service member home where they belong.”

Harris has served in Congress since 2011 after replacing Frank Kratovil and previously held office in the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011. He was born in New York City in 1957 and currently resides in Cambridge. Harris earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1977.
