Rep. Andy Harris, MD, currently representing Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of political topics in recent posts on his social media account. His tweets between November 14 and November 17, 2025, included commentary on medical policy under the Trump Administration, criticism of Maryland Governor Wes Moore’s redistricting approach, and remarks on the affordability of Thanksgiving.

On November 14, Harris expressed support for federal policy changes affecting medicine: “Good move by the Trump Administration. Patients deserve doctors who ask, ‘What’s the best treatment for you?’ ….. not ‘What ideological box do you check?’ Woke ideology has no place in medicine or patient care.”

The following day, Harris criticized Governor Wes Moore’s handling of redistricting efforts in Maryland: “What Gov. Moore really means with his disgraceful ‘IDGAF’ attitude is that he doesn’t care about the millions of Marylanders who oppose this blatantly political redistricting stunt and simply want fair representation in Congress.”

On November 17, Harris commented on economic developments related to holiday expenses: “In good news for families, Thanksgiving is becoming affordable again. This is something every American can celebrate. Thank you, @POTUS”

Andy Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st congressional district since defeating Frank Kratovil in 2011 and previously served over a decade in the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and now residing in Cambridge, Harris holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University (FACTS 1-4).
