Rep. Andy Harris, currently serving Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of policy issues in a series of posts on November 19 and 20, 2025.

On November 19, Harris commented on economic conditions under the Biden administration, stating: “The bottom line is the inflation rate is one third of what it was under the peak under Joe Biden. Now, the price of energy is up — but that’s because of Biden-era policies. And some of these policies you can’t turn off like a light switch.”

Later that day, he criticized rhetoric toward law enforcement and referenced a recent incident involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Maryland: “When the Left demonizes law enforcement, our communities pay the price. It’s now being reported that an illegal alien in Adelphi, Maryland used his car to attack ICE. THANK YOU ICE and President Trump for taking this violent threat off our streets.”

On November 20, Harris shared his stance on federal funding related to abortion services for undocumented immigrants: “Taxpayer dollars should NEVER bankroll abortion travel for illegal aliens. Proud to co-sponsor this important legislation.”

Andy Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st District in Congress since 2011 after succeeding Frank Kratovil. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in both the Maryland House of Representatives and State Senate from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge, Harris graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977.
