Rep. Andy Harris, who represents Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing healthcare reform, agricultural priorities, and gas prices.
On December 6, 2025, Harris emphasized the need for patient-centered healthcare reform by stating: “We can solve healthcare affordability but only by putting power back in the hands of PATIENTS, not the insurance companies.”
Two days later, on December 8, 2025, Harris reflected on his engagement with local agricultural leaders: “It was great spending time with the Maryland Farm Bureau yesterday. It is always an honor to hear directly from them about the importance of agriculture across our state, their top priorities, and how we will continue to work together to strengthen our rural communities in”.
Later that same day, Harris commented on national energy issues and former President Trump’s messaging: “Gas prices are lower than they’ve been in a long time. President Trump is going to remind Americans how much better this is and how much better it’s going to be.”
Harris has served as Maryland’s 1st district representative since replacing Frank Kratovil in 2011. Before his tenure in Congress began that year, he served in both the Maryland House of Representatives and Senate from 1999 through 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge at age 66, Harris holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University (1977).
