Rep. Andy Harris, who represents Maryland’s 1st congressional district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on his official X account addressing crime, political opposition, and religious observance.

On October 1, 2025, Harris wrote: “It’s time to clean up the chaos the Democrats have created. Grateful to President Trump’s leadership in getting the violent crime off our streets and restoring law and order.”

Later that day, he shared a message for Yom Kippur: “Wishing all who celebrate in Maryland’s First Congressional District and across the country a blessed Yom Kippur.” This post was made on October 1, 2025.

On October 2, 2025, Harris commented on legislative negotiations by stating: “If you want the details on the Democrats’ $1.5 trillion demand, this thread lays it out.”

Harris has served as Maryland’s 1st district representative since replacing Frank Kratovil in 2011. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge at age 66, Harris is also an alumnus of Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Science degree earned in 1977.
